Aikido promotes winning over one's self, instead of fighting with others. It enables students to develop a deep sense of peace and calmness as a basis for whole body power.

Aikido trains the mind, body and spirit at the same time. It's an effective way to deal with everyday stresses and promotes health, vitality and self-confidence regardless of age or physical ability.

Aikido Kenkyukai International   (AKI), is an organization of affiliated dojos inspired by the  vision and  teaching of Takeda Yoshinobu Shihan, 8th dan. AKI has dojos in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Uruguay, British Columbia, Canada, USA, France, Germany and here in the UK. AKI dojos are directly linked to Aikikai Honbu Dojo (Aikido World Headquarters) in Tokyo under the auspices of Takeda Sensei, and all gradings are internationally recognised and awarded through the Aikikai Foundation, Japan. Takeda Shihan is a member of the Aikikai board of directors.
